MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte's chief legal counsel Salvador Panelo on Friday dismissed Senator Leila de Lima's description of the Bilibid "drug matrix" as garbage.
"She was saying that wrong grammar pa iyung matrix, as if the wrong grammar will alter the fact that according to intelligence reports as shown by that matrix she is involved as well as other people," Panelo alleged. "The matrix is just an illustration of who are involved and how they are involved."
Panelo said the case build-up against de Lima continues.
He said the Justice Department is gathering evidence, aside from having four witnesses.
Panelo believes the alleged recording of a conversation between a drug lord and de lima's driver may be an evidence that they can present.
However, Panelo said if they cannot present it if the conversation was taped illegally, they can call people involved to testify.
Panelo said people should wait for what will be filed in court.
He also dismissed Rep. Amado Espino, Jr.'s defense that he and de Lima are enemies.
