Close to 5,000 broiler chickens were handed out to residents in Candaba, Pampanga to prove that the town is free of avian flu.
The chickens are from Candaba Mayor Danilo Baylon's poultry farm located in the town of Porac.
The mayor said that giving away chickens away is part of his advocacy even before the bird flu virus hit two barangays in the town of San Luis.
Each family goes home with at least two live chickens. The mayor said chickens would also be given for free to residents of the town’s 33 barangays.
