A soldier was injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) went off Monday in a military operation in Rajah Buayan town, Maguindanao.
According to the Philippine Army's 6th Infantry Division (6ID), troops from the 57th Infantry Battalion were conducting a combat clearing operation in Barangay Bakat when the IED detonated, wounding Private 1st Class Narciso Monreal Jr.
Col. Edwin Alburo, 6ID public affairs officer.
(For now, we are still investigating the IED's origin, if it's from enemy groups, BIFF and Turaifie group, Dawlah Islamiya. We still don't know...if it was intended for soldiers.)
Residents of Datu Anggal Midtimbang town were also disturbed after another bomb reportedly went off around 7 a.m. on the same day.
Resident Nurhaya Ulama said she was watching TV with her family when they heard a loud explosion.
(The explosion was really loud... we are scared because there might be a next one, so we'll just be careful.)
Besides the 2 explosions, another bomb was reportedly discovered in the area.
