MANILA - Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has posted on social media about a city official who emptied his office after he was fired for “abusive behavior.”

“This is the room of one Office Head after I fired him. He was removed because of some questionable practices and abusive behavior,” Sotto posted Sunday on his Facebook page.

The two photos taken last Saturday show an empty room, presumably stripped of furniture and office equipment. The only appliance left was an old air-conditioning unit.

“The pictures show how some people treat the government like their private property,” the mayor added.

Sotto, who defeated the 27-year Eusebio dynasty in the midterm polls, said he and his team “are giving everyone a chance.”

“Some of the most successful transitions in LGUs (local government units) have come with minimal changes in personnel. But we will deal with the abusive as they deserve, and with the full force of the law,” he said.

In a follow-up comment, Sotto lamented the lack of inventory of government equipment at city hall.

“Di malinaw saan dinala ang milyon-milyong (o bilyong) kagamitan,” he said. “Ni walang sticker at number karamihan ng mga kagamitan sa mga opisina kaya ang hirap i-trace pag nawala.”

(The problem is we do not know where the millions or billions worth of equipment were placed. There are no stickers or numbers to track the office equipment so it’s difficult to trace if any of them were lost.

Sotto encouraged the public to report abusive or questionable officials by calling the number (02) 643 1111 or by visiting city hall.
