Abu Sayyaf Group releases teacher in Sulu

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- A teacher held captive since Tuesday by the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) was released Thursday in Barangay Danag, Patikul, Sulu.

Adrina Bongil, a teacher from Tuup Elementary School, was subsequently brought by her relatives to Jolo town proper, military officials said.

At around 2:30pm Thursday, Mayor Kabir Elias Hayudini of Patikul, Sulu brought Bongil to his residence in Barangay Anuling, Patikul.

Troops of the Joint Task Force Sulu proceeded to the area to meet and talk to the teacher about her experience at the hands of her captors.

Bongil was abducted by four men armed with one M16 rifle, one M14 rifle, and one caliber .45 pistol in Barangay Kan Ague, Patikul on August 16.
