MANILA - Former Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. has asked the Sandiganbayan 1st Division for a furlough to have his teeth checked on Aug. 25.
Revilla, currently detained on plunder charges in connection with the P10-billion Priority Development Assistance Fund scam, was advised by his dentist to return for a "routine dental check-up and restoration of cavities" at the Gan Advanced Osseointegration Center (GAOC) at the Greenbelt Center in Makati City on Friday at 2 p.m.
Last March 23, Revilla was allowed to undergo implant surgery for his teeth at the same clinic.
In the motion, Revilla's lawyers said the former senator's dentist, Steve Mark Gan, issued a medical certificate dated Aug. 15 advising Revilla of his check-up.
Revilla's lawyers also noted in the motion that the court has declared that "under similar exceptional circumstance in the future, the Court will not hesitate to grant any motion that may be filed by accused Revilla and/or co-accused to leave their detention cell."
The actor and former lawmaker has been held at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame while on trial for alleged involvement in the fund diversion scheme.
