MANILA—Police are looking into whether the suspects involved in the shooting of 2 Bureau of Customs employees in Makati on Friday had intended to rob them.
According to Police Lt. Col. Rogelio Simon, Makati city police chief, the gunmen who attacked Maricon Manalo and Marietta Lasac apparently tried to force their way inside Manalo and Lasac's car and were targeting items in their possession.
Manalo and Lasac, who are sisters, are reportedly in stable condition. A third person who was with them inside the car was unharmed.
Police are investigating with the Customs agency's help.
“We treat this as a case na kailangan tutukan dahil mayroon kaming nakikitang anggulo nito kung bakit isinagawa itong ganitong krimen,” Simon said.
Customs commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero has condemned the killings. — With a report from Michael Delizo, ABS-CBN News
