DAVAO CITY- The sons of President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday joined their sister, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio's regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
Former Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and Sebastian "Baste" Duterte were among those who participated in the mass oath-taking of new members of the regional party.
Paolo, in a Facebook post, said he supports his sister's party “to establish a strong and competitive Davao Region resonate significantly with many political leaders.”
When asked about the possibility of running as mayor in Davao City, he said there is only a 1 percent possibility at the moment as he depends on the decision of his sister.
“As I join HNP today, I also commit to its advocacies and determined resolve to support President Rody and push for the fulfillment of the Duterte administration’s plans and programs for the country and the Filipino people," he said in his Facebook page.
It can be recalled that Paolo resigned as vice mayor of Davao City on Christmas day last year out of delicadeza, citing "recent unfortunate events in my life that are closely tied to my failed first marriage."
Sara, Paolo, and Sebastian are President Rodrigo Duterte's children with his former wife Elizabeth Zimmerman.
