MANILA - The Sandiganbayan has approved former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's medical check up and vacation abroad, her lawyer Laurence Hector Arroyo said on Tuesday.
Atty. Arroyo said the Sandiganbayan 4th division confirmed over the phone that Rep. Macapagal-Arroyo's motion to travel to Germany, France and Hong Kong has been approved.
Macapagal-Arroyo needed the Sandiganbayan's permission for her travel abroad because of a standing hold departure order issued in 2012, in connection with her pending graft charges over the allegedly anomalous NBN-ZTE deal.
Part of the conditions set by the anti-graft court is the posting of a P300,000 travel bond.
"Yes, we called court and staff said court issued order today setting bond at total of P300,000 for the three NBN-ZTE cases, but we have not received the resolution itself," Atty. Arroyo said.
Based on the amended itinerary submitted to the Sandiganbayan, Macapagal Arroyo will fly to Germany from September 19 to 29, 2016 to consult with medical experts on her condition and health. She will then fly to France from September 29, 2016 and stay until October 3, 2016 for a short vacation.
After over three weeks, Macapagal-Arroyo will also attend a family reunion and spend time with her family in Hong Kong from October 29 to November 4, 2016.
