LA UNION - Some residents of the three barangays in the town of Luna, namely Barangays Rimos 3, 4, and 5 have evacuated to elevated areas.
Though some have opted to stay in their homes, tents are already stationed at higher places. Local officials together with the police are assessing and convincing the people for preemptive evacuation.
Situation Report of Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) of La Union as of 9:30 am shows incidents of flooding monitored in three barangays.
Three barangays in Bacnotan town are also flooded. Affected areas include Brgy. Agdeppa, Sitio Kalingat, Brgy. Ubbog and Gen. Prim West.
Meanwhile, one family evacuated in Bangar Evacuation Center.
A dump truck has been requested in Bangar for rescue and clearing operations as the water is reported to be at hip and knee level. Water is mostly knee high, and waist deep.
Paratong to Rimos is also not passable.
Meanwhile, Amburayan river registers water level 3 which is still a safe level.
San Fernando City declared suspension of classes on all levels and cancelled work in government offices.
Classes in all levels have also been suspended in the towns of Luna, Bauang, San Gabriel, Rosario.
Other towns like San Juan, Bangar, Bagulin, Balaoan have also suspended classes from preschool to senior high.
The town of Pugo meanwhile, suspended classes from preschool to elementary.
Private schools have classes in Agoo, but Don Mariano Marcos State University has declared suspension of work and classes in all campuses in Bacnotan, Agoo, and San Fernando City.
