MANILA - A recommendation for President Rodrigo Duterte to visit neighboring Southeast Asia countries this month is being finalized and is awaiting the new Filipino leader's approval.
Presidential Communications Office chief Martin Andanar said the list of possible countries to be visited by Duterte includes Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
"We are still finalizing the recommended August 23-30 ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) trip. The president hasn't approved it yet," Andanar said.
Duterte is expected to visit Laos in September for the ASEAN Summit. The Philippines is hosting the regional summit in 2017.
