MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte has declared August 21 a regular holiday in observance of the Muslim feast of Eid’l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice).
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed Proclamation No. 556 declaring August 21, Tuesday, a regular holiday, citing the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos.
August 21 also marks Ninoy Aquino Day, also a holiday.
Eid'l Adha is one of Islam's two major feasts along with Eid'l Fitr.
Eid'l Adha marks the descent of pilgrims as they complete the annual Hajj in Mecca, Islam’s holiest city. It commemorates the sacrifice made by Abraham in obedience to Allah’s command.
