Two of the five fugitives who escaped from Rosario Municipal Police in Cavite have been killed, police said Tuesday.
The two fugitives were identified as Lindon Bartolo, 23, and Josefino Abad, 41, who died from gunshot wounds.
In a statement, police said a citizen reported the fugitives in Barangay Muzon 11, Rosario, Cavite.
“The suspects armed with a short firearm shot the responding team several times and tried to throw a hand grenade while uttering the words ‘Tang-*** ninyo patay kayo lahat dito’ prompting the police operatives to retaliate,” the statement read.
A caliber .45 pistol, a hand grenade, empty shells, live ammunition, and five sachets of suspected shabu were recovered from the suspects.
Their remains will undergo autopsy.
The detainees escaped on August 9 after one of them feigned death, which prompted a jail guard to open the cell.
A manhunt operation is still ongoing for the arrest of the three other fugitives.
