MANILA - The Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission said Wednesday it is conducting a “lifestyle check” on at least 200 government officials.

The officials are from the Bureau of Customs, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Bureau of Internal Revenue, PACC commissioner Greco Belgica said. The reviews will be finished by the end of the year.

“Let it be known that we will show no mercy against corrupt officials. We will file cases, we will make it go through the process,” Belgica told reporters during a Palace press briefing.

The assessments are separate from the ongoing lifestyle check on top officials of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, which President Rodrigo Duterte recently accused of “massive corruption.”

The PACC, meanwhile, lauded the Department of Transportation for voluntarily submitting its officials to a lifestyle check.

“Siya (Transportation Sec. Arthur Tugade) po mismo ang sumulat sa akin at nagsabi, ‘Imbestigahan mo ang lahat ng aking mga kawani na humahawak ng puwesto, tao at pondo’,” Belgica said.

(He personally wrote to me to ask for an investigation on all officials holding a position and handling people and money.)

Aside from the ongoing lifestyle checks, the anti-corruption body is also investigating corruption complaints against 2 Cabinet members, Belgica revealed. He, however, refused to name the high-ranking officials.

Duterte created the PACC in October 2017 to rid government of corrupt public officials.
