MANILA– President Rodrigo Duterte has declared November 17 of every year as National Students’ Day “in recognition of the invaluable contribution of student activism to Philippine democracy.”
Republic Act 11369 signed by the President on Aug. 8, 2019 directs the National Youth Commission to lead activities in observance of National Students’ Day.
It also tasks the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education to support the NYC in promoting activities in public and private schools.
“All schools, colleges and universities are encouraged to extend their full support for exercises and activities launched by students during the observance of National Students’ Day,” the new law stated.
