MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed another actor-turned-politician and a former professor to the government.

Duterte tapped former Parañaque City Councilor Jeremy Marquez as deputy secretary-general of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC). The President signed his appointment papers on August 10.

Prior to his upcoming role in the HUDCC, Marquez, son of former Parañaque City Mayor Joey Marquez, served as barangay chairman and councilor in the city. He ran for vice mayor in the city under the Nacionalista Party but lost.

The President also appointed Jose David Lapuz as member of the UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines under the Department of Foreign Affairs. He shall represent the educational, scientific and cultural agencies of the government for a three-year term.

Lapuz was Duterte’s former political science professor at the Lyceum of the Philippines.
