The Philippine government expressed confidence that the setting up of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is still on track.

Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez told ANC's "Beyond Politics" government officials are working hand in hand with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in drafting priority legislation.

He also said the region is ramping up efforts to address the threat of terrorism.

"We have to focus on two areas, particularly Sulu and Marawi. Because of the ongoing rehab, some are exploiting the slow rehab in Marawi. And Sulu, because it's very marginalized, considering its location is far from the other areas. They feel they are neglected," Galvez said.

The Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process added the decommissioning process for 12,000 MILF combatants will take place on September 7.
