MANILA - At least 2 aftershocks were recorded on Sunday in Batangas province, 2 days after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit the area, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

The first aftershock struck Nasugbu, Batangas with a magnitude of 4.9 at 1:51 a.m. A weaker 3.5-magnitude tremor was recorded in the same town after some 20 minutes, according to Phivolcs' website.

"Wala naman nag-report na nakaramdam kasi malalim masyado," Phivolcs director Renato Solidum told radio DZMM.

(It seems no one reported to have felt it because it was too deep.)

Both tremors had a depth of about 160 kilometers and were not expected to cause damage to property, according to the bulletins.

Last Friday, a magnitude 6.3-magnitude quake prompted students and employees to move to safer ground.

The quake was felt in parts of Metro Manila and other nearby areas.
