MANILA - Several days of monsoon rains submerged large portions of the capital and surrounding provinces in flood waters, on Saturday, snarling traffic and stranding commuters.
The state weather bureau said monsoon rains would persist in Luzon and the Western Visayas for three or five more days.
Parts of Pampanga province north of Manila were also flooded, leaving some streets not passable for light vehicles.
In Guagua town, floods hit the villages of Maligaya, Lambac, San Matias, Becuran and Sta. Rita.
Floods also disrupted traffic in parts of the provincial capital of San Fernando.
