BATANGAS CITY - A 65-year old journalist and his companion were hurt when an unidentified man shot at them inside a house here Wednesday night, police said.

Batangas Police Director Senior Supt. Randy Peralta identified the victims as Crisenciano Ibon, columnist of Police Files Tonight tabloid and resident of Barangay Bolbok, and his companion Gerry Ebreo.

Police said the victims were watching television inside Ebreo’s house in Barangay Kumintang Ilaya when the suspect opened fire at them through a window around 8:30 p.m.

Witnesses said the lone gunman hurriedly left the scene while carrying his caliber .45 pistol.

Ibon was rushed to the St. Camillus Hospital while Ebreo was brought to the Batangas Medical Center for treatment.

Police have yet to identify the suspect and determine if Ibon’s work as a journalist has something to do with the attack.

Peralta activated Oplan Kalasag to investigate the case.
