MANILA – A low pressure area spotted east of the Philippines is enhancing the southwest monsoon (habagat), resulting in rains over a large portion of Luzon.

State weather bureau PAGASA said the LPA, spotted 1,200 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan as of 10 a.m. today, was enhancing the southwest monsoon.

PAGASA said moderate to heavy rains were being experienced over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Calabarzon and the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Mindoro and northern Palawan.

Light to moderate rains, on the other hand, will prevail over Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon.
