MANILA—Pork barrel scam whistleblower Benhur Luy denied the statements of fellow witnesses Marina Sula, Mary Arlene Baltazar and Merlina Suñas who apparently sided with former Senator Bong Revilla when they were called as defense witnesses last June.
Luy told the Sandiganbayan 1st Division that he did not coach his fellow whistleblowers after learning they were issued a subpoena to testify for Revilla in connection with the Priority Development Assistance Fund scam.
“Hindi ko sila tinuruan, ang sinabi ko lang huwag sila manghula at kung ano lang ang alam nila,” Luy said.
It was Sula who had said in her last testimony that she was coached by former prosecutor Joefferson Toribio to just corroborate the testimony of Luy.
Sula had also said it was Luy who prepared the endorsement letters for the pork barrel projects of Revilla and that the senator did not know the supposed illegal transactions.
Luy, however, reiterated that the endorsement letters bearing the signatures of Revilla were brought by his legislative officer, Atty. Richard Cambe, to their office.
He also reiterated that upon instructions from his boss, businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles, Cambe was authorized to transact on behalf of Revilla.
Luy also denied he was forging the signatures of Revilla.
"I did not sign any of the endorsement letters relating to the PDAF of senator Revilla,” Luy said.
During the recess, Revilla told reporters that Luy is lying again.
“Isa lang masasabi ko, mas magaling siyang artista kaysa sa ’kin,” Revilla said.
At one point during the hearing, Revilla was also heard saying “liar” while Luy was continuing his testimony.
