MANILA – Police have filed criminal complaints against Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. and his son Rolando "Kerwin" Espinosa.
The two are alleged by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to be involved in illegal drug trade, and illegal possession of firearms, said a report on DZMM.
The CIDG filed the cases at the Albuera Prosecutor’s Office in Leyte.
The elder Espinosa is currently staying with his family members in the Philippine National Police (PNP) White House, the official residence of the PNP chief.
Kerwin is in hiding and has yet to surrender to authorities, as of posting.
PNP chief Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa has threatened to kick the Espinosa clan out of his official residence if Kerwin does not turn himself in.
The shoot-on-sight order given by President Rodrigo Duterte for Kerwin has not yet been withdrawn.
