MANILA - A Philippine Airlines flight to Vancouver, Canada from Manila was diverted to Haneda Airport, Japan on Thursday morning after one of its engines reportedly shut down.
PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna confirmed with ABS-CBN News the incident and assured that all 387 passengers and crew of flight PR116 were safe after a successful emergency landing.
The plane left Manila on Wednesday for a direct flight to Vancouver, Canada when the crew noticed the low oil pressure of the left engine.
The distressed aircraft continued to fly towards Haneda Airport while executing emergency protocol.
A replacement aircraft is expected to fly to Haneda Airport Friday night.
The airline apologized and assured relatives of the passengers that all measures for their safety are being made. --Report from Raoul Esperas
