NAGA CITY – More than 70 lactating mothers at the Bicol Medical Center (BMC) breastfed their babies for one minute on Friday morning in an event dubbed as The Big Latch on 2018 in celebration of the National Breastfeeding Awareness Month.
A mother of 3-day old twin boys said that while it would be more challenging, she would still opt to breastfeed her babies exclusively for 6 months.
After the simultaneous latch-on, medical experts as well as advocates shared the benefits and importance of breastfeeding to the mothers.
BMC has the first human milk bank in the region. It is where donated human milk is collected, screened, processed, stored and distributed to newborn babies in need.
