MANILA - The local government of Makati is urging all consumers and dealers in the city to refrain from buying and selling poultry products from San Luis town in Pampanga after the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) confirmed the presence of bird flu in said town last week.
In an advisory posted on Facebook Sunday, Makati City Veterinarian Ma. Katherina Mangahas said the city's veterinary services is now monitoring all market channels selling poultry products.
Dealers are also advised to temporarily avoid acquiring products from San Luis town to prevent the possible spread of the disease.
Residents are also advised to be vigilant in buying poultry products.
"Immediately inform Makati - VSD if they have information about vendors selling poultry products from San Luis, Pampanga," the statement added.
The BAI earlier said they had successfully controlled the spread of the disease in San Luis town.
