MANILA - State-run People's Television Network (PTV) on Saturday said it would be airing a limited number of programs starting Monday, Aug. 3, to disinfect the company headquarters in Quezon City from COVID-19.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the network said a majority of its employees were instructed to work from home following new coronavirus cases among its workers.
PTV will operate on a skeleton staff, as its broadcast operations personnel will undergo reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests this week.
"PTV will continue to provide the nation with the latest news and information through its hourly newsbreaks and its primetime newscast at 6 p.m.," the broadcaster said.
The network is set to resume regular programming on Aug. 10.
As of Saturday, the television network had 5 active COVID-19 cases, a recovery and a fatality.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Communications Operations Office had 22 active cases and a fatality, the Philippine Information Agency had an active case and 2 recoveries, while Radio Television Malacañang had 3 active cases.
