MANILA—A 4-magnitude earthquake struck Itbayat, Batanes early Thursday while still reeling from last week's twin tremors that left 9 people killed and 100 injured.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tectonic tremor occurred at 3:20 a.m. at a depth of 17 kilometers southeast of Itbayat.
"This is an aftershock of the July 27, 2019 Batanes events," the agency said.
Intensity 4, which could produce moderately strong shaking that would cause hanging objects to swing considerably, was recorded in Itbayat.
Phivolcs said the tremor is not expected to cause damage.
