MANILA—State weather bureau PAGASA said Wednesday it is monitoring a new low-pressure area (LPA) brewing east of the country.

Weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said the trough of the LPA outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) will bring rains over Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Davao Region.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or habagat is prevailing over the western section of Luzon.

The weather disturbance will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Pangasinan, Zambales and Bataan.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.
