MANILA (2nd UPDATE) - After its announcement of a promo code went viral, motorcycle ride-hailing firm Angkas has also caught the attention of a unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The PNP Hotline Twitter account on Wednesday called out Angkas for a tweet which likened its service to sex.

"This is not acceptable to commuters. Matatakot ang tao sa Angkas 'pag ganito. This is not promoting public safety in transport business anymore," said the PNP Hotline Twitter account.

The PNP account also tagged the Twitter accounts of Angkas and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.

The PNP Hotline Twitter account is managed by the public information division of the PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations, according to PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac.

Banac said he stands by the PNP unit for flagging Angkas.

"Any public transport service provider that is granted government franchise to operate [is] expected to observe proper decorum in its engagement with public clients," Banac told ABS-CBN News in a text message.

Angkas, known for its funny social media posts, likened its service to sex as it announced its promo code for new users.

"Angkas is like sex. It's scary the first time pero masarap na ulit-ulitin," Angkas wrote in the tweet.

As of this posting, the post has earned 1,500 retweets and 14,500 likes.

Angkas has yet to respond to the PNP hotline's tweet.
