MANILA - A rookie police officer was killed while three others were arrested in Bicutan, Taguig City Tuesday for allegedly extorting P200,000 from a couple.
The police officers, who hold the rank of police officer 1 (PO1) and police officer 2 (PO2), are assigned at the Precinct 1 of Taguig City police.
Before the entrapment, authorities said the suspects allegedly raided a woman's house Monday night and took P50,000 from her.
A few hours later, the suspects allegedly abducted a couple past midnight. They released the woman and asked for P200,000 ransom in exchange for the release of her partner.
After reporting the incident to authorities, an entrapment operation was conducted.
The suspects shot it out with elements of the Taguig City police and Special Weapons and Tactics (Swat).
Chief Supt. Tomas Apolinario, director of Southern Police District, and Senior Supt. Alexander Santos, chief of Taguig City police, are now on site to investigate the incident. - with reports from Jekki Pascual and Jervis Manahan, ABS-CBN News
