MARAWI CITY - Evacuees staying in a school in Balo-i packed their bags and transferred their tents to a vacant lot at the back of the madrasah on Thursday.

The Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) said the displaced Maranaos need to transfer because the school, Madrasah Markazi, is set to begin classes in August.

The evacuees, however, are worried about their tents because they have been experiencing heavy rains with strong winds recently. Sometimes, they said, the rains even cause flood.

The displaced residents also reported seeing big snakes and rats inside their tents when it rains.

The evacuees are not yet allowed to go back to this city, even in the areas already declared safe by military, because the war against Maute terrorists is still ongoing.
