NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – Four people were killed in a shootout with police during a buy bust operation in the town of Pontevedra early Wednesday morning.
Andrew Tuvilla "alyas Dodoy" and his three unidentified companions were shot dead by operatives of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group.
Tuvilla was the subject of the buy bust operation at Barangay Miranda.
Police said that during the operation, they heard shots being fired by the suspects prompting them to shoot back.
Barangay Chairman Eddie Garcia earlier said he brought Tuvilla to the Pontevedra Police last week to surrender after the suspect promised to stop his illegal operations.
However, Garcia said he recently found out that the illegal drug operation in Tuvilla's house continued.
Recovered from the crime scene were the .45 caliber pistol used by Tuvilla and a .38 caliber pistol used by one of his companions.
