MANILA - Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Friday met with hero dog Kabang and animal rights advocates to discuss his plans on how to manage the proliferation of stray cats and dogs in the capital city.
Kabang was hailed by Zamboanga City as its "ambassador of dogwill" after the canine lost its upper snout when it saved 2 children from a motor crash in 2013.
"Personal na mahilig ako sa aso," Moreno said, saying he had a pet beagle before.
"There will be a place for them," Moreno told Kabang's handlers as he showed them plans for a new city pound.
Moreno said he would also consider a "libre kapon" (free castration) program for cats and dogs to limit the population growth of stray animals.
