MANILA - Fugitive Ozamiz City Councilor Ricardo "Ardot" Parojinog, who was nabbed in Taiwan, may return to the Philippines on Friday, a Philippine National Police source told ABS-CBN News.
The source said Thursday that a PNP team is on its way to the Pingtung Detention Center to fetch Parojinog, who is being investigated for illegal possession of firearms.
Asked to confirm the news, PNP spokesperson Benigno Durana said he is not privy to the details on the deportation of Parojinog.
"Definitely, the primary concern of the Philippine National Police is the safety and security of Parojinog the moment he'll be turned over to the custody of the PNP," he told ANC.
He refused to give more details about the deportation as it could compromise the safety of Parojinog and law enforcers.
Parojinog is the younger brother of the late Ozamiz Mayor Reynaldo "Aldong" Parojinog, whom President Rodrigo Duterte linked to the illegal drugs trade. The mayor was killed in a drug raid.
He hid for 10 months before he was nabbed in Taiwan in May for entering the country using illegal documents. He was sentenced to 3 months in prison and a fine of NT$ 1,000 (around P1,750) a day.
