MANILA - Communist Party of the Philippines founding chairman Jose Maria Sison on Tuesday denied that he has cancer as claimed by his former student, President Rodrigo Duterte.
"That's not true. That's a blatant lie," the Netherlands-based Sison said in an interview with ANC.
Sison admitted he was hospitalized last March, but said it was due to lack of appetite, weight loss and low autoimmunity level.
Duterte said in his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday that Sison, his former professor, has colon cancer.
He also said he no longer wanted to talk with the rebels following fresh attacks by their armed wing, the New People's Army.
"Kayong mga Left: I will not talk to you. Why should I?" he reiterated during the SONA.
