MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to rehearse for his penultimate State of the Nation Address on Friday night, Malacañang said.
Duterte is set to physically deliver his SONA before a limited number of lawmakers at the Batasang Pambansa on Monday, defying the threat of the coronavirus pandemic.
“The President will give us the roadmap, the guidelines, ano'ng aasahan natin (what to expect). He will be carrying the torch for everybody,” Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said Friday.
Duterte is expected to present the Philippines' pandemic recovery roadmap for his SONA.
Presidential Security Group (PSG) commander Col. Jesus Durante III said Tuesday stricter health security protocols would be implemented "to ensure a 360-degree shield for the President" given the persisting COVID-19 threat. A total of 19 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded among staff of the House of Representatives as of Friday.
Film director Joyce Bernal is again directing this year's SONA.
