MANILA – A total of 3.7 million beneficiaries have so far benefitted from the second tranche of the Social Amelioration Program, which sought to help poor families affected by the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, an official said.
Irene Dumlao, spokesperson of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, said it was tapping electronic means for the distribution of the subsidy. In geographically isolated areas where there are no payout centers for financial service providers, DSWD will establish a big venue payout for waitlisted beneficiaries
Beneficiaries will receive cash aid ranging between P5,000 and P8,000 based on minimum wage rates in the region.
“That is equivalent of a total amount of more than P22.7 billion. We expect sa araw na ito na madadagdagan yan dahil may mga na-process na tayong mga payroll at ito po ay naibabahagi na sa ating mga financial service providers,” said Dumlao,
Despite challenges, the DSWD said the payouts represent around 30 percent in the total distribution of the second tranche of the social amelioration program.
Dumlao said they hope to complete the SAP distribution in geographically remote areas by August 15.
“For the financial or digital transaction, we move to complete it by the end of July,” she said.
She reminded that under Executive Order 112 and the Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2 in May, only beneficiaries in areas classified as enhanced community quarantine will receive the 2nd tranche.
She identified these areas as the National Capital Region, Calabarzon, Benguet, Pangasinan, Iloilo, Bacolod, Davao, Cebu province, Zamboanga City and Albay.
“Kung sino mga beneficiaries na nakatira sa mga lugar na iyon sila po yung makakatanggap ng ayuda, yung pong 2nd tranche,” she said.
