CAGAYAN— Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested a provincial government employee in a drug bust Saturday afternoon.
Anti-drug operatives arrested Ralph Placides, 54, administrative aide at the Cagayan provincial capitol, after he sold a sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu to a PDEA agent.
Another four sachets of suspected shabu were found in a brown coin purse seized from the suspect during a body search.
The operation transpired in a hotel room in Barangay Pengue, Tuguegarao City, where operatives found drug paraphernalia, such as empty sachets, strips of foil and lighters.
The PDEA said the recovered evidence only proved information that Placides has been doing his illicit activities in hotels.
The suspect has been under surveillance since he was tagged in a local drug group in Cagayan.
Placides is facing charges for violations of the anti-narcotics law.
