MANILA — All 506 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in local quarantine areas in Taguig City have recovered from the disease, Taguig City's Safe City Task Force said Thursday.

"Ang 100 percent recovery rate na ito sa mga kaso mula sa [Bonifacio Global City] Construction Site at sa Purok 5 at 6 sa Lower Bicutan ay patunay lamang sa magandang ginagawa ng pamahalaang lungsod tulad ng agresibong testing at komprehensibong mga plano upang tuluyang mapigilan ang pagkalat ng COVID-19 virus," it said.

(The 100 percent recovery rate among cases from the Bonifacio Global City construction site and Purok 5 and 6 in Lower Bicutan shows that the city government is doing well, including aggressive testing and its comprehensive plan to stop the COVID-19 spread.)

Taguig City's Safe City Task Force earlier said a recent "surge" in cases of COVID-19 in the city were already "contained" in localized quarantine areas, like a Bonifacio Global City construction site and Purok 5 and 6 in Lower Bicutan, attributing the rise in infections to massive testing.

According to the case bulletin, the city recorded 45 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the total to 1,881.

Of this number, 27 succumbed to the disease while 156 are "actively being monitored."

It added that out of the 1,881 total COVID-19 cases recorded in the area, 1,698 or 90.2 percent recovered from the disease.

The Philippines earlier reported 1,594 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, raising the nationwide caseload to 72,269 as of Wednesday.

Of the total number, 46,803 are active cases, 23,623 recovered and 1,843 died from the disease.
