MANILA - Australian missionary Patricia Fox on Monday appealed the deportation order issued by the Bureau of Immigration against her last week.
Fox's lawyers said the bureau's reasons for having her deported were the same ones brought up in its visa forfeiture order that was nullified by the Department of Justice.
The BI earlier ordered the forfeiture of the nun's visa because of “her involvement in partisan political activities” when she joined rallies, something that is not allowed by law.
But Fox has repeatedly said that being with protesters, who are often members of the marginalized sectors, is part of her missionary work here.
The Australian nun, who has been doing missionary work in the country for nearly 3 decades, is hoping the immigration bureau will reconsider the deportation order.
