MANILA—President Rodrigo Duterte ran late for his fourth State of the Nation Address on Monday because of the rainy weather, the Presidential Security Group (PSG) said.
"Bumuhos 'yung ulan. Siniguro muna natin na klaro at flyable 'yung House of Representatives before tayo nag-takeoff," said PSG commander Brig. Gen. Jose Eriel Niembra.
(The rain poured down. We have to ensure first that the House of Representatives is flyable.)
The chief executive was supposed to deliver his annual report at 4 p.m. at the Batasan Pambansa Complex. The presidential helicopter carrying Duterte arrived at 4:53 p.m.
PAGASA had said that Metro Manila would experience cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon or habagat.
