MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday named the top five government agencies that need to "drastically" improve their services.
According to Duterte, the Land Transportation Office, Social Security System, Land Registration Authority, Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Home Development Mutual Fund are among the agencies with the most complaints.
"The LTO, SSS, BIR, LRA and PAG-IBIG are the top 5 agencies that need to drastically improve their service," the President said in his Fourth State of the Nation Address.
He also threatened the officials of said agencies to improve their services or face the consequences of their inaction.
"Simplify. May I, andito ba kayo? Simplify. Just like the others, you can do it electronically. You don't have to go to the office. I have been asking that from you since 3 years ago," Duterte said.
"Kapag hindi niyo pa nagawa 'yan ngayon, papatayin ko talaga kayo. Nabubuwisit na ako," he added.
(If you still fail to do it now, I will really kill you. I am getting annoyed.)
Duterte signed the Ease of Doing Business Act in March 2018 to simplify requirements and streamline procedures to eliminate long lines and lessen waiting time in frontline government agencies.
The law requires government agencies to act on applications within 3 days for simple transactions, 7 days for complex ones and 20 days for the highly technical.
