BARBAZA, Antique - Two siblings aged 3 and 6 were killed in a landslide triggered by monsoon rains here before dawn on Sunday.

The victims and their mother were asleep when soil and debris from the nearby hill crashed down their house in Barangay Binanuan, the local disaster office said.

The children were declared dead on arrival at the hospital while their 48-year-old mother suffered minor injuries, it added.

The local government has implemented a forced evacuation of residents in the landslide-prone village, said Engr. Isidro Magtulis of the Barbaza disaster office.

Tropical Depression Josie will continue enhancing monsoon rains until Monday over large swaths of the country, some of which have been inundated by 3 consecutive storms earlier this month, the state weather bureau said.
