MANILA - A group calling itself Samahan ng mga Progresibong Kabataan asked the Supreme Court (SC) on Friday to stop the implementation of the respective curfew ordinances of Quezon City, Manila, and Navotas.
The group and several co-petitioners who are residents of these cities urged the high court to strike down the implementation of curfew for being "unconstitutional."
They asked for the immediate issuance of a temporary restraining order (TRO) to prevent the local governments of these cities from implementing the assailed ordinances.
Local government units have stepped up their implementation of curfew after President Rodrigo Duterte expressed his intention to implement Davao City's own ordinance nationwide.
Most cities in Metro Manila implement their curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
