Over 50% of coronavirus patients in Western Visayas have recovered: health officials

MANILA - More than half of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients in Western Visayas have recovered, the Department of Health (DOH) in the region said Monday.

According to data from DOH-Western Visayas, out of the 797 total COVID-19 cases in the region, 472 patients have recovered after 58 new recoveries were logged, while 311 are still active cases undergoing treatment.

The remaining 15 have died due to the deadly disease.

Bacolod City meanwhile recorded 14 more coronavirus infections, of whom 8 are male while the rest are female. They are now in quarantine facilities in the city, which has logged 92 COVID-19 cases.

Negros Occidental province also recorded 4 more coronavirus cases, bringing its total to 272.

To date, the Philippines has confirmed 68,898 cases of the deadly virus with 1,835 deaths and 23,072 recoveries, based on official data from the DOH.--With a report from Yasmin Dormido, ABS-CBN News
