MANILA - Rising political stars Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto met for the first time during a fun run at the Meralco Compound in Pasig City on Saturday.
The two new city mayors ran into each other during the MVP Superhero Fun Run in honor of businessman Manny Pangilinan, who was celebrating his birthday.
Both Moreno and Sotto have been receiving positive reviews lately for their performance as local chief executives of their respective cities less than a month after they took their posts.
The Department of Interior and Local Government earlier praised the two mayors for their performances.
Moreno has also received courtesy calls from a number of foreign envoys including US Ambassador Sung Kim, British Ambassador Daniel Pruce, and Panamanian Consul General Rolando Alvarado.
Sotto defeated former Mayor Robert Eusebio in the May midterm polls, whose clan reigned in Pasig for 27 years.
Moreno, a former scavenger, pulled an upset over former President Joseph Estrada in the election in the Philippines' capital.
