Duterte visits wake of cops allegedly killed by NPA

NEGROS ORIENTAL - President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday visited the wake of four policemen who were allegedly killed and tortured by members of the New People's Army (NPA) last Thursday in Ayungon, Negros Oriental.

The President gave the Order of Lapu-Lapu Rank of Kalasag medal to PCpl. Relebert Beronio, Pat. Raffy Callao, Pat. Roel Cabellon, and Pat. Marquino de Leon.

Duterte then talked with the bereaved families of the victims and met Philippine National Police(PNP) officials, including PNP chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde.

Albayalde also gave posthumous PNP medals of merit to the slain policemen.

Albayalde, in a press conference, assured the families they will conduct a thorough investigation ino the incident, saying "someone must be held accountable" for the killing of the policemen. 

Senator Christopher "Bong" Go, Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año, and Department of Education Secretary Leonor Briones were also present. - Martian Muyco, ABS-CBN News
