An anti-narcotics police officer was arrested for robbery-extortion at Pier 12 in Tondo, Manila Friday night.
The suspect, Police Officer 1 Raymund Gulapa, was arrested by members of the Philippine National Police - Counter Intelligence Task Force (CITF) and the Manila Police Department (MPD), according to PNP-CITF chief Senior Superintendent Chiquito Malayo.
Gulapa's companion, PO1 Raymond Casas, managed to escape.
Prior to the arrest, a complainant reported to the PNP-CITF that Gulapa demanded P15,000 in return for lowering the criminal charge against a man arrested for illegal drugs on July 7, Malayo said in a statement.
A 9mm Glock pistol and a caliber .38 revolver were recovered from Gulapa's possession.
The suspect is now detained at the CITF headquarters while charges against him are being prepared.
A follow-up operation is being done arrest Casas.
