MANILA - Defense secretary Delfin Lorenzana will meet with the defense ministers of Malaysia and Indonesia to address security concerns.
The meeting will take place in the first week of August and the spate of kidnappings by bandit group Abu Sayyaf is likely to be the main topic of the discussions.
This is the third trilateral meeting since June. Among the points of discussion are the possible conduct of joint patrols in the concerned sea areas where abductions have been replete.
In July, the three nations penned the ''Framework on Trilateral Cooperation Agreement on Immediate Measures to Address Security Issues in the Maritime Areas of Common Concern."
Last Monday, another 5 Malaysian nationals were believed to be abducted off Lahad Datu, again by the Abu Sayyaf.
